On The Book I Am Writing

I am currently writing an astrology textbook, which is tentatively titled "A Textbook of Applied Vedic Astrology". This book will have 3 parts - theory, analysis and synthesis. I hope to present theory very clearly and unambiguously and give a lot of examples. There will even be well-chosen exercises ('problems' with answers) as in engineering and science textbooks. This book is modeled after some of the engineering textbooks I studied. I hope it will turn out to be something you like when it's done!

The highlight of this book will be Part 3 (Synthesis). Several real-life charts for which I made some predictions will be presented here. All the relevant thoughts that crossed my mind when I was analyzing the chart will be put into words very clearly, for the benefit of the reader!

The structure of this book is outlined below. Your feedback, comments, blessings, advice and suggestions are always greatly appreciated!!!

PART 1 : THEORY

PART 2: ANALYSIS

Examples (given a chart and an event, explain it based on several approaches)

PART 3: SYNTHESIS

Examples (given a chart, use various approaches and make a prediction)

Part 1 will have many examples too, but they will illustrate just the point being stated. Some examples will illustrate computations and procedures, while some examples will illustrate their 'effectiveness' (the two are different). Those of the latter kind will be chosen such that the principle being explained makes great sense! There will be some exercises with solutions too and these will focus on the "systematic" procedures suggested. They will be chosen such that the solution is pretty obvious.

Part 2 will make everything complicated. Instead of illustrating each principle in isolation, it will take real-life charts and events or results and explain them based on 'everything' learnt in Part 1. Apart from enabling the reader to get used to using various principles, it will serve two delicate purposes:

Part 3 will be the highlight of this book. This part will put in writing all the relevant thoughts that my mind went thru from the time I looked at the chart till the time I made a reading/prediction. This will provide insights into There will probably not be any 'thumb rules', but this part will honestly present many real-life situations an astrologer experiences. It will honestly deal with the many dilemmas an astrologer faces and the many tough choices an astrologer has to make while making predictions. Reading this part can be educational, guiding and inspiring to those who are transitioning from theory to practice. With this part, I will be 'opening up' myself before everyone, if you know what I mean!!! While some astrologers don't seem to be willing to do that, I don't mind doing it! In fact, I think that any honest astrologer who believes in the effectiveness of his tools should be willing to open up himself before others.

This is the structure I have in mind. Any comments or advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. My aim is to write a book that will be used as a standard textbook for a long time to come!
